The etiology of transcatheter aortic valve (TAV) degeneration is poorly understood, particularly noncalcific mechanisms. The authors sought to investigate noncalcific and calcific mechanisms of TAV degeneration and evaluate their impact on leaflet function by bench testing, imaging, and histology.
