Cardiovascular Researcher
Cardiac Center Aalst
Robert Herman, MD, PhD, is a cardiovascular researcher at the Cardiac Center Aalst in Belgium and a graduate of the CardioPath PhD program in Artificial Intelligence and Electrocardiography at the University of Naples. He is a physician–scientist focused on the translational application of AI in cardiovascular medicine, with work spanning acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, and structural heart disease. Dr. Herman is the founder of several AI ECG models, including the Queen of Hearts (STEMI AI ECG Model), trained on ECGs from 2.5 million patients to identify STEMI and its equivalents using angiographic outcomes as the reference standard. His innovations power the PMcardio platform, which supports more than 50,000 clinicians each month in interpreting over 4 million ECGs annually, across more than 40 cardiac conditions worldwide.
