Lorenz Lehmann
Head of the Cardio-Oncology Unit
Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital of Heidelberg
Prof. Dr. Lehmann is a clinician scientist, heading the cardio-oncology unit at the Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital of Heidelberg. As an interdisciplinary research platform, it is part of the National Center for Tumor Disease (NCT) and one of the largest outpatient clinic for cardio-oncology patients. Prof. Lehmann is rooted in basic sciences and was trained at the University of Heidelberg and the EMBL in a joint postdoctoral program. He has a strong background in epigenetic regulation of cardiac stress response and cardiac metabolism. His current research focuses on preclinical modeling of oncological off-target effects (e.g., immune checkpoint inhibitor associated myocarditis and anthracycline-dependent cardiotoxicity) and epigenetic memory of cardiac stress. Clinical studies focus on side effects of oncological therapies and identification of patients at risk.
